Hurry

AIrmin Van Buuren · 26 June 2026 · 4:15

“Hurry” is a song about the emotional load that sits underneath everyday motherhood. On the surface, it looks like coffee, daycare, meetings, dinner, homework, dishes, and another day that moves faster than the person living it. Underneath all of that is a much bigger question: when so much of your identity is built around being needed, what happens in the rare moments when no one is asking for anything?

This track was written from the tension many parents know but do not always say out loud. You can love your children deeply and still crave distance. You can look forward to seeing their little faces and still feel desperate for quiet. You can be grateful for your life and still feel overwhelmed by the pace of it. “Hurry” is not about blaming motherhood. It is about being honest about the way responsibility, love, guilt, exhaustion, and identity can all exist in the same breath.

Musically, “Hurry” is an emotional vocal trance track built around movement and contrast. The driving rhythm reflects the constant race from one responsibility to the next, while the melodic lead and darker modal feel carry the more private emotional question at the centre of the song. The track is meant to feel like a story arc: the morning rush, the workday pressure, the commute, the quiet house, and finally the question that was there the whole time.

Lyrics

I'm on my second cup of coffee The daylight's on my heels We're runnin' late I gather up the morning pieces My youngest paints the floor in laughter The breakfast ain't made The only time I settle down Is when I roll out of town And the whole way I just hurry Hurry Hurry And when I'm home I just hurry Hurry Hurry When I'm alone I just worry Worry Worry Who am I when I'm not a mom? I'm in another meeting with my headset Runnin' to the daycare The supper ain't made Stirrin' up some easy comfort I'm teachin' numbers, names, and letters To the second grade The only time I settle down Is when I roll out of town And the whole way I just hurry Hurry Hurry And when I'm home I just hurry Hurry Hurry When I'm alone I just worry Worry Worry Who am I when I'm not a mom? And I can't wait to see their little faces But I can't wait to get away Yeah I can't wait to see their little faces But I can't wait to get away And when the house is finally quiet I stare at the trail I made The dishes piled up Still I'm countin' down the hours Till the next small hand takes hold of me And I start to race And the whole way I just hurry Hurry Hurry And when I'm home I just hurry Hurry Hurry When I'm alone I just worry Worry Worry Who am I when I'm not a mom? Who am I when I'm not a mom?
